Frank McMillan, the son of a Police Inspector, was a Parramatta junior. He was first recorded playing with the Parramatta Endeavour Rugby League Club in 1919 (probably as early as 1917).
Frank was selected in the Western District President’s Cup team in 1920 along with a number of other promising young players. Many of them went on and made their mark with Wests.
Frank’s older brother Cyril Roy McMillan (listed as R McMillan), who was a prisoner of war in WWI, played in the local League along with a number of other returned servicemen. He too was selected to play in the 1921 Western District President’s Cup team.
Frank McMillan was slightly built which earned him the nick name of “Skinny.” However his physical stature was no impediment.
He soon changed the role of the fullback position by injecting himself into the front line of attack. He also had an accurate long distance kicking game. Frank McMillan became one of the legends of rugby league.
