Ray

Ray Morris was born at Haberfield, NSW and played junior rugby league with the Ashfield and Homebush Clubs.

He was selected for the Wests President’s Cup team in 1925. The team was lead by Harry Owen and they went on to win the President’s Cup that year.

Ray was then selected in Reserve Grade and was listed as a Reserve for Wests League Cup Final team, that were Runners-Up in 1925.

He went on to have a successful career with the ultimate honor of being selected for the 1933-34 Kangaroo tour. Ray tragically died on route to England which created a great outpouring of grief across the sporting world.

West supporters have kept his memory alive by tending to his grave in recent years.
