The Cumberland Argus on 4 September 1925 reported that; “A. Parsons, one of the forward division in Wests Reserves, scored three tries against South Sydney Reserves on Saturday. Parsons will be remembered as a promising player when in the local junior ranks. He commenced his football career as centre-forward for Parramatta Commercial School team in 1918, and in 1919. The Parramatta team divided competition honours with North Sydney on that occasion.
On leaving school, Parsons forsook the Union ranks and turned his attention to Soccer, playing with Parramatta Rovers. He was not greatly enamoured with the game, but nevertheless he learned something from it that has been of material assistance to him since. He learned to have command over the leather in a dribble. When he found the call of ‘his old love’ becoming insistent, he came into the League fold and played a series of rattling games with (Parramatta) Endeavour A Grade.”
