Wests Archive would like to thank Noel Hurford and his wife, Moira, for generously contributing their time and information in the preparation of this profile.
Noel Hurford was born at Forbes, NSW in 1946 just after the second world war. At the age of seven, his family moved to the NSW town of Orange where they took up a soldier settlement property.
In this interview he indicated that his earliest memories of rugby league go back to when he could first hold a football. He developed his skills by kicking around a football with his mates and siblings but first played competitively when he went to school at Orange.
He was a noted rugby league player and cricketer at Orange and came to prominence in 1970 when he represented Western Division against the touring Great Britain team.
In 1971, Noel came to Sydney and played with Wests for two seasons. He played a number of First Grade games with Wests and was a prolific goal kicker.
