Ted

Brothers, Edward and Rodolph Wheldon played with Camperdown, in the Newtown Junior rugby league competition between 1922 and 1924.

Edward was known as either “Ted” or “Nigger” and played fullback. His brother Rodolph was known as “Bones” and played halfback. Both of these players eventually made their way to Wests and played First Grade with the Club.

Ted Wheldon was selected to play with the Newtown President’s Cup team in 1922 and 1923. However the family had moved to Croydon Park by the mid 1920’s which enabled the Wheldon brothers to residentially qualify to play for Wests. The boy’s father, Thomas Wheldon senior was a Committee man and Vice President of Wests between 1927 and 1930.
