Cecil “Ted” Anderton played junior rugby league with the Wentworthville Club in Sydney’s outer west.
He played for the Western Districts President’s Cup team in 1925, but didn’t make his First Grade debut until 1928. He was plucked from the juniors to play fullback after it was announced that Frank McMillan was retiring. Wests tried five different fullbacks in the last seven rounds of 1928, in its bid to find a replacement for McMillan.
It was Cec Anderton’s one and only game in Grade football until 1930. Cec returned to the junior competition for the remainder of 1928 and also the 1929 season. In 1930 his time had come and he was once again graded with Wests.
