Westley

Westley Easterbrook was born in Walgett, NSW in 1891. He was the son of a Police Constable who moved around the State.

The family settled in the suburb of Hamilton (Newcastle) where Westley was educated and played his earliest football which was rugby union.

He was first recorded playing with the Central Newcastle Second Grade rugby union team in 1908. This team was described as a junior team and Westley at the age of seventeen was a prominent player. The Central Newcastle Second Grade team were premiers in 1908.

Westley and two of his brothers enlisted in the First World War where they served with distinction. The family had a sense of duty and Westley again enlisted during the Second World War.
