Wally Collins played with the Newtown Rugby League Club from 1912 to 1917. He made his First Grade debut for Newtown in 1912 and went on to play sixty six First Grade games. During his time at Newtown he scored twenty six tries and kicked two goals for a total of eighty two points.
Wally was a member of the Newtown teams that were runners up in the 1913 and 1914 seasons. While at Newtown he was selected to play for Metropolis in 1914. At the end of the 1917 season Wally came across to Wests and played two City Cup games. It was the start of a long and fruitful association with Wests.
