Steve Blyth grew up in the western Sydney suburb of Regents Park. The area was at that time a hub for junior rugby league talent. Many young players had their first taste of rugby league with teams such as Berala Bears and St Benedict’s. Steve Blyth played his junior football with both of these teams.
Steve went on to play junior representative rugby league with Wests and was ultimately called up to the grade ranks. He played First Grade rugby league with Wests during its golden period in the 1970’s. Later, he moved on to Newtown where he had the opportunity to play in a First Grade grand final.
He finished his rugby league career on the NSW Central Coast and after retiring he settled in that area.
