Stan

Stan Tancred is the nephew of Henry Eugene “Harry” Tancred, who played for Wests in 1920.

He played his junior football with Ashfield United. In 1931 he was selected for the Western Suburbs A Grade Inter-District team and then graded with Wests.

Stan played Reserve Grade for Wests in 1931 and 1932. He got his break in the 1933 season. when he made his First Grade debut.

Wests fell away in the later part of 1933 to take the wooden spoon. Stan was one of the stand out players. His form was so good that he was selected for City Possibles and then City Seconds, before ultimately being selected for City Firsts.
