Shane

Wests Archive would like to thank Shane Day for generously contributing his time and information in the preparation of this profile.

Shane Day was born in Brisbane, Queensland in 1949. He moved to the Sydney suburb of Maroubra, in South Sydney territory, with his family at a young age.

He was educated at Marcellin College, Randwick and received a scholarship to go to university. Marcellin has a proud rugby league background with alumni including Ron Coote and Merv Cross.

Shane played junior rugby league with Marcellin College, Maroubra CYO, Alexandria Rovers, Matraville Tigers and Kensington clubs. These were in the South Sydney district. Shane said that some of his hardest football was played in these junior competitions.
