Mick

Wests Archive would like to thank Mick Liubinskas for generously contributing his time and information in the preparation of this profile.

Michael “Mick” Liubinskas was born in Perth, Western Australia. He moved to NSW with his family as a youth and lived in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. Mick first played junior AFL at Warwick Farm, NSW but soon found rugby league. He learned his rugby league and developed his skills at Mt Pritchard East school and then with the Liverpool City Club.

His family moved to the suburb of Concord in the Western Suburbs district in 1969, where he joined the Concord United junior rugby league club. The Concord club has produced many fine rugby league players and in 1972 it was Mick Liubinskas and Steve Rigney that caught the eye of the junior representative selectors.
