Lou Yanz was the older brother of Fred Yanz (Wests #214). The Yanz brothers played their junior rugby league with the Auburn Club and were graded in 1921 with Wests Third Grade.
The Third Grade team was mostly made up from the 1920 Auburn A Grade team which achieved premiership honors. This team had many talented players within its ranks. Third Grade records at this time were quite limited. It is not known how many games the Yanz brothers played in Third Grade.
