Les Dolan was a product of South Sydney Rugby League Club (Souths #149), but made the move to Wests in 1927. An article in Rugby League News in July 1924 noted that; “besides possessing plenty of talent in the first team, South Sydney has many promising players in the Reserve team, and one of the most promising of these is Dolan, a centre three-quarter. Against Newtown he displayed rare form, and made many splendid openings. He can give the dummy beautifully, possesses pace, and tricky swerve. Dolan is also quick to sight openings, and profits by the mistakes of the opposition.”
