Tedda Courtney’s family moved from Townsville, Queensland to North Sydney, NSW about 1892.
He was attending East St Leonards public school in North Sydney and could read and write.
City life wasn’t for Tedda. In August 1895 at the age of ten he went missing from his home in Blues Point Rd North Sydney. He returned to his home but by October 1895 there was a further report of him missing.
Tedda was described as eleven years of age, tall for his age, thick set, fair hair, and complexion.
In November 1895 there was a notice that Edward Courtney had been arrested and charged under the Industrial Schools Act and sent on board the “Sobraon”.
