Wests Archive would like to thank Graeme O’Grady for generously contributing his time and information in the preparation of this profile.
Graeme was from the small town of Kenebri about 20 kilometres north of Baradine, NSW deep in the Pilliga Scrub. The area is semi-arid and was best known for timber getting and railway sleeper cutting.
The Pilliga is known for two legends, the first being the Pilliga Yowie, and secondly Graeme O’Grady.
His family remained in the district until the mid-1960’s, before coming to Sydney and settling at Macquarie Fields. Graeme attended Ingleburn High School and initially played junior rugby league for the local Ingleburn RSL club.
As a junior he went on and played with Liverpool City, Liverpool RSL and then the Liverpool Second Division Club
