Charlie

Charlie Wrench’s family was from the gold mining town of Sofala, near Bathurst NSW. He was born in the locality and his birth was registered at Lithgow NSW.

In 1910 Charlie’s mother died, leaving five children, with her widower husband, George, including the infant Charlie. George and his family eventually moved to Sydney and settled in the western Sydney suburb of Wentworthville.

Charlie Wrench was a Western Suburbs junior who played rugby league for the Wentworthville and Blacktown Clubs in the Western Districts junior rugby league competition.

The Wentworthville Rugby League Club, on its web site, acknowledges Charlie Wrench as a former member who achieved representative honors.
