Brett Clark grew up in the Sydney suburb of Belfield and was educated at Belmore Boys’ High School. Belmore Boys High had a reputation of producing good sportsmen. Dally M coach, Warren Ryan was a long standing PE teacher and football coach at the school.
As a youngster, Brett was a soccer player but did not like the game very much. His dad took him down to Enfield Federals to play rugby league with the under nines. This developed into a life-long passion for rugby league.
Brett went on to play with Wests and St George before having a very successful career in England, playing in the “old dart” for seven seasons. On his return he played and coached for several seasons in A Grade competitions.
Most players would have hung up their boots at this point in their career. However, Brett moved across to Western Australia and played rugby league for a further eleven seasons. He then played some rugby union and masters rugby league. He was well over fifty years of age when he finally called it a day.
