William

Wests player #187 was identified as Walter Palmer in the Rugby League Project.  That name appeared in past player lists of both the Annandale and Newtown Clubs. These recordings made it appear that identifying this player would be  simple. A lot was known about “Walter” Palmer’s playing career but identifying him proved difficult.

There were a few Walter Palmers born in the right time period but none could be identified as the rugby league player. They were either not from the right locality or had died at an early age.

The player had a nickname of Bongy and it was this clue that confirmed that the name of this player was William Palmer and not Walter Palmer. This is his story.
