Wal

Walter Barclay was an Ashfield local and played his junior football in that locality before moving up into the Grade ranks with Western Suburbs and then becoming a trainer with the Club.

In identifying Walter Barclay an item was found in the NSW Police Gazette from 1923. Walter was living at Hawthorne Parade Haberfield and had his house burgled.

Amongst the items stolen was a gold football medal  with “Presented to W. Barclay, from A.B.F.C. for services rendered season 1907” on the back. It is not known whether Walter Barclay ever had his football medal returned.
