Tom Watkins played junior rugby union with the Burwood United Club as early as 1902. He made his way through the ranks and was recorded playing with the Western Suburbs Rugby Union Club in 1907.
He came across to play rugby league with Wests in 1908 and played one First Grade game in round two of the competition. Tom was the halfback in that game but unfortunately Wests were soundly defeated by Souths 7-42. There is no record of Tom Watkins playing any further First Grade games.
