Rupert

Rupert Henry Upton was born at Parramatta NSW but grew up in the inner city suburb of Glebe. Rupert’s older brother Clifton Upton played First Grade with the Glebe Rugby League Club and was  the Secretary and Treasurer of that Club from about 1910 until 1920.

He also held various positions with the  NSW Rugby League and was joint tour manager of the Australian team that visited New Zealand in 1919. In 1920, Clifton Upton resigned his positions and went to Adelaide and by 1923 moved to Melbourne.
