Neville Sinclair grew up in the Sydney suburb of Chullora and played his first game of rugby league with the Greenacre Grasshoppers rugby league team in 1960. In 1961 Neville went across to Enfield Federals and played with them continuously until 1969.

He showed great ability as a junior player and was the captain of many of the Federals teams in which he played, winning a number of competitions along the way.
