Ray

Ray Gillam was born into a rugby league family at Berry on the NSW South Coast.

His father, George Gillam, was a long term President of the South Coast Rugby League and Town Clerk of the town of Berry. George Gillam was a contemporary of Wests player, Ephraim Mison.  He was the first Secretary of the South Coast Rugby League formed after Eph Mison moved that a South Coast Rugby League be formed in 1911.

Ray Gillam started his career playing rugby league at Berry. His work as a Bank Teller required him to move to Country towns, including Henty, Bowral, and Lithgow.  He made an impact playing football as well as taking on administrative roles with the Clubs he played with.
