Jack Tully was educated at St Patrick’s College in Goulburn NSW before becoming a public servant.
He was an assistant at the public library from 1903 to 1908 and a draftsman at the Registrar General’s Department from 1908 to 1925 and 1932 to 1935.
He joined the NSW Labor Party in 1913 and became President of the Chatswood branch.
In 1925 Jack Tully was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Goulburn in the NSW Parliament from 1925 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1946. In 1941 he was appointed Secretary for Lands.
Jack Tully resigned from politics in 1946 to accept appointment as the NSW Agent-General in London. Jack’s son, Laurie Tully, succeeded him in representing the Goulburn electorate from 1946 until 1965.
Jack Tully died at Roseville, NSW in October 1966.
