Ron

Harry Ronald “Ron” Eaton was born at St Leonards in the North Sydney District in 1909. He grew up in this area where he learned to play rugby union and cricket.

Ron also was a member of the Dee Why Surf Club, a good squash player and a single digit handicap golfer.

In fact Ron Eaton was quite good at any number of sports and so it was no surprise that he married Edna Davey, an Australian champion swimmer and Olympian in December 1930.

Ron played only the one season with Wests but remained as an avid sportsman throughout his life. He became one of Australia’s most prominent sports entrepreneurs and promoters.
