Gordon Stettler’s grandfather emigrated as an unassisted passenger from Switzerland in 1855 and the family settled in the Parramatta District.

Gordon’s registered forename was Godfrey after his father’s forename and his second forename was Lonsdale after his mother’s maiden name. He was mostly known by the names of “Gordon” or “Lon.”
