GAME HISTORY

    George

George Swanson may not have played First Grade rugby league with Wests.

The 1917 Wests First Grade team photo shows a player by the name of G Swanson but it is quite possible that this was George Swanson’s younger brother Richard Swanson, Wests #174, and the photo caption was an error.

George Swanson was recorded playing lower grades with Wests up until 1915. There is no other record of G. Swanson playing after that time.

There were a number of recordings of the surname “Swanson” after 1915, but this could have been a record of Richard Swanson who played First Grade with Wests in 1916 and continued to play until the early 1920’s.

For a more detailed account of the playing record of the Swanson brothers, see Richard Swanson (Wests #174).
