George

Wests Archives acknowledges the contribution of Howard Lucas, the son of George Lucas, to the preservation of George’s history and the story of his life.

George James Lucas had a long career in rugby league as both a player and a coach. He was born at Five Dock, NSW and went to Concord Public School, where he first played rugby league.

In 1929 he was a member of the Concord Public School, champion rugby league team. In that team were future Wests players, Albert “Podgy” McGuiness, Roy Ainsworth and John Sparrowhawk.
