Fred Comber was born at Ryde, NSW in 1909 and grew up in the Western Suburbs district. He played his junior football with the Burwood Juniors Club and was a prominent player in Burwood’s A Grade premiership team in 1931.
Fred was graded with Wests in 1932 and eventually made his First Grade debut in 1935. Fred Comber played on the wing and was very quick.
