Les

Dudley Alfred George “Les” Midson was born at Ryde NSW in 1906, but grew up in the suburb of Granville. He was a Wests junior who played with the Granville Royals Rugby League team between 1925 and 1930.

Les was selected for a Southern Districts rugby league team in 1925 and was recorded as D. Midson. Between 1925 and 1930 he moved away from the area and was recorded near Proserpine, Queensland in 1928. However by 1929 he was back in Sydney and playing rugby league with the Granville Club.

In 1930, Les was selected to play for the Southern Districts President’s Cup team which played through to the final. The team lost to Balmain, 3-7. Les Midson was the try scorer and the most influential player for Southern Districts.

The following week, Les Midson was called up to Wests Grade ranks along with Dave Hey, Max Gray, Leonard Hessian, F. Wheeler, and Jack Matterson.
