Wests Archive would like to acknowledge the contribution of Doug’s nephew, David Wilson in recounting his memory of the times that he spent with his uncle Doug.
Doug Wilson was born at Ashfield NSW in 1913 and grew up in that district where he played his junior football. Unlike many of his contemporaries he came through the rugby union ranks.
In 1933 he was playing with the Reliance Rugby Union Club in the sub district competition. The following year he joined the Western Suburbs Rugby Union Club where he honed his skills as a fullback.
