Doug

Doug Rawlings was born in the NSW central west town of Oberon. He was from a footballing family, his father being a stalwart of the Oberon Tigers rugby league team. Doug also came up through the ranks of the Oberon Tigers.

He was selected to represent the Country rugby league U/18’s team that played against Sydney U/18’s at Newcastle in 1982. David Gillespie was the captain of the Country U/18’s team.

Doug was a Western Division (Group 10) representative and was awarded player of the series in the Country Rugby League championships of 1982.

He was graded by Eastern Suburbs in 1984 however a knee injury brought about a premature end to his career with Easts. He returned home and played the remainder of the 1984 season and the 1985 season with Oberon.

During 1985, Doug completed his Electrical Trade Certificate at Bathurst TAFE. This would set him up in a career after he retired from football.
