Don

Wests Archive would like to acknowledge the contribution of Don’s son, John Milton. He has generously made available memorabilia and information from Don’s playing days, so that his story can be told.

Don’s parents were living at Rodd St Bankstown when he was born in 1923. Fortunately the family moved to Five Dock in Wests territory by 1930 otherwise he may have become a Canterbury Bankstown player. It was in the Western Suburbs district where Don grew up but there is little information from Don’s junior days.

Like many young men of his time, Don enlisted in the Australian Citizens Military Force but then enlisted in the field in Queensland with the 2nd AIF in April 1943.
