Darcy

Darcy Russell was born in the Coffs Harbour district on the NSW mid North Coast in 1929. He grew up in Woolgoolga however his father enlisted with the RAAF at Coffs Harbour in 1941 and the family moved to the Sydney suburb of Paddington during the war period.

Paddington is in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and so it is no surprise that Darcy would have played junior rugby league in the district before moving on to the grade ranks at Easts. Darcy’s parents remained at Paddington until at least the mid 1950’s and Darcy’s younger brother Barry also came up through the juniors to play First Grade with Easts in 1954.
