Danny

Danny Peacock was born in the western Queensland town of Augathella. The town has a population of about 400 people and is located 700 kilometres north-west of Brisbane. The area was known as a pastoral district and a producer of wool. The Peacock family lived on some of the largest pastoral properties in the district.

The area is known as “Meat Ant Country” and the town is famous for its giant Meat Ant sculpture. The local rugby league team is known as the Augathella Meat Ants. It was with this team that Danny played junior rugby league.

Augathella only has a primary school so it is necessary to travel the 85 kilometres by bus to attend high school at Charleville. It was at Charleville that Danny was first noticed by the representative selectors. He soon made an impact in the junior ranks which sent him on a path to playing at the highest level in Australia and England.
