Archie Mitchell played with Western Suburbs Rugby Union Club in 1914 but came across to play rugby league with Wests in 1915, along with a number of other prominent Wests rugby union players.
He played three First Grade games for Wests in the 1915 season. However, players such as George Viles, Alf Bossi and Bill Connelly were preferred.
Archie Mitchell lived much of his life in the western suburbs and died at Hornsby, NSW in September 1963.
