Allan

Allan Ashmore was born in Dalby, Queensland in 1949. He was the son of a returned Navy man who represented Dalby in rugby league. Allan’s family moved around Queensland but Allan spent at least some time at Maryborough where he went to school.

Allan made his way to Canberra by the late 1960’s where he worked for the Commonwealth Department of Works. Both rugby league and union were played in the nation’s capital but it was rugby union where Allan first excelled.

He was first recorded playing with Lyneham but soon moved to the Western Districts club where he had a long association.
