Neville McNee was a very fine rugby union player from the Monaro district in southern NSW. He was captain of the local representative team which capably matched visiting Sydney teams. McNee and his team mates could have easily been recognised for representative honors in the Union code. It appeared that because they were so distant from the epicentre of rugby union in Sydney they were overlooked.
About this time in the Monaro, rugby league gained a foothold, and players like Neville McNee had the opportunity to play the professional game. Neville McNee’s ability to play at the top level was realised when he joined Wests in 1928.
