Lyall

There has been confusion as to which Wall brother played with the Balmain, Annandale, Wests and St George clubs.

George Lyall Wall, born in 1890, has been referred to as the relevant player but that is not the case.  It was actually his brother, John Craik Lyall Wall, born 1891 who is the correct player. The problem which arises is that the player was referred to as L. Wall or Lyall Wall throughout his career.

The name Lyall, is a second name for both brothers and therefore it makes it difficult to distinguish between them. The surname of their mother was also Lyall and the family lived in Lyall St Leichhardt. The Rugby League Project refers to this player as John Wall and the Wests Heritage List of First Grade players refers to him as Lyall Wall.
