Claude Wallis’s family arrived from England in 1886 and settled in the Granville District before moving to Ryde, NSW.
Wallis is the less common version of the surname Wallace. There wasn’t many people with the surname of Wallis in the Western Suburbs of Sydney in the early 1900’s.
Various first initials were used in reporting Claude Wallis’s name in team lists. This made tracking his playing progress somewhat difficult.
Nevertheless, it was possible to work through these anomalies and be confident that Claude Wallis was Wests player #34.
